The Beauty of things
( extracts)
...We could believe that LANDIER, eminent engraver, is in the course of days and nights bent as Rembrandt on his copper plates for his etchings or his aquatintes in his workshop at Montmartre... By a privileged favour, it seems that he escapes on the roads of the art, towards the irradiant lights of the South, those which flood and change at every hour the mount Sainte-Victoire...
It is of no use to speak about Cézanne here. Cézanne was Cézanne as to-day Landier is Landier...
Landier is a luministe of the light-colour... After this beautiful exhibition, there is no doubt he is going to re-redisappear in secret... But Landier finds that the world is very large to be discovered. He prefers listening to his music in the stones of Sainte-Victoire or to paint somewhere else the beauty of things which is blooming in him.
