ENGRAVINGS

The advent of engraving is slightly anterior to 1497, date of the first known engraving of Dürer. In France, it's in 1660, that Colbert, by an edict of Louis XIV, made the engravings entered in the King's cabinet.
Since five centuries, the technical is remained the same one, always so exacting. An Art, which, with the numerous handlings it requires and the infinite time demanded, seems not very adapted at times lived under sign of speed.
